Working at Gateley RJA

We go that little bit further to make a difference

What makes Gateley RJA different?

There are lots of good construction consultancies across the UK. Generally, what differentiates the good ones from the average ones is the people.

At Gateley RJA we work hard to inspire our people to be the very best they can be, and we are dedicated to growing the business to ensure our people can grow and advance with us.

Gateley RJA are one of the fastest growing construction consultancies in the Midlands and this is achieved by focusing on our twin targets of ‘happy clients’ and ‘happy staff’.

Helping our staff succeed

We are very proud of our staff. We work hard not only to recruit the best, but also to provide the training and opportunities to ensure everyone is focussed and motivated.

We are fully committed to training the next generation of surveyors and for three years running we have been nominated as Apprentice Employer of the Year by Nottingham Trent University. We are delighted to have been named winner of this award for 2023.

“I find doing the apprenticeship programme helps massively in gaining construction knowledge first-hand that can then be applied academically. Also, attending university each week means I am able to put the theory into practice and have confidence in all aspects of my work.” – George Pain

Gateley RJA is a registered practice with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and we encourage all our surveying staff to strive towards chartered status.

We have several members of the team who are working towards their Assessment of Professional Competence, and we have a dedicated programme of training and support to help them achieve their goal. All APC candidates are appointed an in-house Supervisor and training sessions are held monthly to ensure the right experience is being provided and the designated competencies appraised and signed off.

CSR & Charity

At Gateley RJA, we not only want to help our staff, but also the community. We recognise the importance of giving back and doing our bit to help. For this reason we are in the process of attaining our ISO 14001 accreditation, the international standard for environmental management.

We recently launched a Corporate Social Responsibility Programme to support activities that enhance and serve the communities in which we live and work. The programme allows our staff paid time off to give back and support the community. At the same time, we recognise that participating in these sorts of activities enriches the lives of the participants.

Each year Gateley RJA select a charity to support as a company and our team find many ingenious and varied ways to raise money. Over the years we have raised over £13,000 for charities such as Mind, Cancer Research UK, Beat, and many more. Most recently, we raised over £4,600 for Bowel Cancer Uk. We encourage the team to get involved in charity events such as golf days and quiz nights wherever possible, as well as hosting our own.

It's not just about work...

Everyone works hard at Gateley RJA, but we like to think there’s more to life than work.

Fridays at Gateley RJA are ‘Feel-good Fridays’.

We want our staff to feel appreciated regularly and that’s why on Fridays it’s not only dress-down day, but it’s also ‘Pastry Friday’ as a wide selection of pastries, cookies and other treats are shared amongst the staff.

And of course, everyone finishes an hour early on Friday to start the weekend in earnest.

Gateley RJA’s social secretaries are regularly dreaming up new activities for the team to try. These events are enjoyed by all members of the team, and we have enjoyed a variety of events, including badminton, dessert tasting and clay pigeon shooting.
